(SG) Event Wrap-up: Ethics and Accountability: Ensuring Responsible AI Use in Publishing

Telum Media hosted its latest in-person event in Singapore on Wednesday, 12th November 2025, in partnership with SOPA. The panel featured Barry Porter, Founder of Raspberry Communications; Jason Subler, Global General Manager at Reuters; and Jeremy Au Yong, Associate Editor at The Straits Times. The discussion was moderated by Olivia Poh, Asia Technology Reporter at Bloomberg News, and was followed by a Q&A session and networking.


Held at The Executive Centre, the session highlighted how newsrooms and communications teams are embracing AI tools while safeguarding core journalistic values. Panellists shared their experiences with AI-driven workflows that are streamlining production, while emphasising that human oversight remains essential for editorial accuracy and accountability. Governance also emerged as a key theme, with discussions on policies, oversight structures, and transparency measures, including clear disclosure of AI-assisted content and ongoing review processes


The conversation also explored how roles and structures in newsrooms and communications teams are evolving, with panellists noting that contextualisation, critical thinking, and domain expertise are essential for maintaining a human perspective in an AI-enabled environment.
