Optus brings in an Interim Head of Employee Communications & Events

Optus has welcomed Alexis Wilson as acting Head of Employee Communications and Events, reporting to the Chief Corporate Affairs and Marketing Officer, awaiting a new appointee.

Previously based in Singapore for more than six years, Alexis worked at IBM Asia Pacific as Senior Comms Manager, before being promoted to APAC Communications Director at spin-off company Kyndryl, and finally Global Corporate Affairs Vice President, Communications, ESG & CSR at IBM / Kyndryl.

Before her stint in Singapore, Alexis held a senior appointment at Hotwire Australia, and had even spent time working in New York, including a role at Edelman specialising in corporate and public affairs for technology firms.

Lindsay was previously based in New York as VP, Communications at GALE and Global Head of Marketing at DDB. Prior to this, she was at DDB Group Australia, following her time in journalism at AdNews Australia.

Stephen Beckett commences new role as CEO in aviation space

Stephen Beckett has finished his role as GM of Government and Industry Affairs at Virgin Australia and has been appointed CEO at peak aviation industry body, Airlines for Australia and New Zealand (A4ANZ) representing Qantas, Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand, Jetstar and Rex airlines in both markets.

Stephen has worked as the Head of Public Affairs at Brisbane Airport, and has in-house experience within the government sector, having worked for a number of politicians based in Queensland including Premiers Anna Bligh and Peter Beattie.

For almost a decade, Stephen has taught at the University of Queensland’s School of Communications and the Arts, both as a tutor and guest lecturer.
