Tom Finnigan is named Storyteller and Head of MarComms

Australian IT company, Cogito Group, has appointed Tom Finnigan as Storyteller and Head of Marketing and Communications, where he will build out the company's marketing and sales functions. Tom recently left MurFin Group, a public relations agency specialising in cybersecurity. He was previously Director of Media and Storytelling at AustCyber and The Stone & Chalk Group.

SOCIETY unveils new positioning and service model

Independent marketing communications agency, SOCIETY, has unveiled a new positioning and service model as it heads into its 10th year in business.

This comes as SOCIETY said that brands are operating in an environment where AI is multiplying content, social platforms reward speed, and audiences move on more quickly. The agency stated its revised model is intended to respond to that challenge by bringing its strategy, creative, earned, content, and measurement capabilities into a clearer structure.

The new model comprises five service areas:

  • Strategy: Brand, communications, reputation, and campaign strategy.

  • Story: Creative campaigns, brand storytelling, earned authority, and thought leadership.

  • Studio: Social content, creator and influencer content, film, photography, design, and production.

  • Scale: Media relations, social-first earned media, influencer and creator partnerships, brand partnerships, experiences, and activations.

  • Score: GEO and AI-search visibility, alongside communications measurement through CREW, a communications intelligence company launched by SOCIETY CEO + Founder, Dena Vassallo, in September 2026.

The agency has also positioned the model around three pillars: "remembered, valued, and proven", which it said reflect a focus on creating communications that audiences recall, providing value and measuring what changed as a result.

"There's so much content now that people struggle to recall what they’ve seen, let alone who it belongs to,” said Dena.

"Being everywhere isn't the same as being remembered, and being noticed isn't the same as creating value. And increasingly, communications leaders need to prove the difference their work actually made. Our DNA hasn't changed. We’re still here for the brands that matter in people's lives and organisations shaping society. What’s changed is how we show up for them.

"This means creating work that's remembered because it finds the story people carry with them, valued because it contributes something meaningful, and proven because we can show what changed and what to do next."

Justin Stolarski has joined AI-powered developer platform, GitHub, as Corporate Communications Manager, APAC. In his new role, he will lead external comms across the Asia Pacific region with a focus on Australia, South Korea, Japan and India.

Justin previously worked in-house at Optus, following agency roles at FleishmanHillard Australia and Weber Shandwick.
