ABC snaps up new Director of Communications

The ABC has announced the appointment of Freya Campbell as Director of Communications, with her official start date set for the 7 th of July.

She will be joining the team from UNSW Sydney, where she is currently Executive Director Strategic Communications, managing external and internal communications, including media and the Vice-Chancellor’s communications.

Freya brings credentials in stakeholder engagement, issues management, government relations, and developing communications across channels and platforms. Prior to her role at UNSW, she was at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), managing a team responsible for communications across 80 locations in 48 markets.

On the appointment, ABC's Managing Director, Hugh Marks, said: "We’re incredibly fortunate to have someone of Freya’s background and skills join the ABC Leadership Team. I can see how much she’ll bring to how we talk about the vital role of the ABC with employees, stakeholders, media and audiences."

Based in Sydney, she will be overseeing communications strategy, execution, and agency management in key markets including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, and emerging markets across Southeast Asia. Prior to this role, she was the Co-Owner and Director of Adhesive PR for 10 years. Previous to that, Myf founded and headed up Frank PR, which opened in 2009 in Sydney, following three years that she spent working at their London HQ. She has over 20 years of Communications experience under her belt.
